Gerald H. White, 75, of Halifax, NS, formerly of North Chegoggin, Yarmouth, NS, passed away on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, at Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax. Gerald was born on October 3, 1948, in North Chegoggin, NS, the youngest son of the late Reginald and Ruth (Hazelton) White. He spent his formative years on the family dairy farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for working the hay fields with the tractor. In adulthood, Gerald moved to Dartmouth, NS, where he found employment at the Steed & Evens Asphalt mixing plant, a job he held for an impressive 45 years. Known for his dedication and friendly demeanor, Gerald formed lasting friendships with many local asphalt contractors during his tenure. Upon retiring, Gerald embraced his love for outdoor activities, particularly enjoying camping and traveling. His retirement years, however, were shortened by a progressive illness. Gerald is survived by his partner Reta of Halifax, NS, his brothers George (Shirley) of Orleans, ON, Rex (Barbara) of Hampton, NB, his sisters Marion (Alphie) Theriault of Yarmouth, NS, Audrey (Kenny) Myers of Summerside, PEI, Susan (Alvin Clairmont) of Arcadia, NS, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Following cremation, a private burial service will be held at a later date in North Chegoggin. His legacy is one of hard work, generosity, and a deep commitment to those he loved. May he rest in peace, knowing he was dearly loved and will be forever remembered.
